The Only Fans Creator Dilemma — Depend on Skills, Not Platforms
You’re on borrowed time on someone else's rental space after all.
At the time of this writing news has just been released about the erasure of adult content off OnlyFans. 2020’s quarantine year birthed many freshly minted “sex workers” who have become dependent on this platform for their income trading in the harsh hustle and bustle reality for a perceived easy street.
Unfortunately, Tim Stokley has leveraged irony to gain a gold rush from gold diggers. Looking to make a change pursuing greener pastures in high profile celebrities among others, the loyal base that raised the companies profit margins in a pandemic may find themselves out of work. This is a common consequence when your livelihood is gambled on the ever changing landscape of someone else’s social media technology.
However, OnlyFans is not the only culprit.
The same holds true for those that are on YouTube,Twitch, Twitter, etc. I myself have preferred YouTube as not only my primary choice for content consumption, but also audience service. YouTube is supplementary to my primary skill set (web design and development) serving people with tech tutorials, analysis about certain technologies, and more.
